Contact our office at (812) 346-2020 to schedule an appointment so we can perform a comprehensive eye exam and determine if you need cataract treatment. In general, cataracts typically begin around the age of 40. However, symptoms might not be present until the age of 60. In rare cases, babies are born with a cataract as a result of a birth defect.

If you have cataract symptoms that are mild, a new contact lens or glasses prescription might suffice. However, if your cataracts gradually worsen, the eye doctor will likely advise surgery so the cataract can be removed. In some cases, cataract surgery is necessary to treat/see other eye conditions such as alterations to the retina resulting from the aging process. The cataract removal process involves the removal of the clouded lens so it can be replaced with a lens implant. This lens is clear and carefully shaped to suit your eye shape and vision requirements.
